Spring brings many visitors to Middleburg with all the local events such as the Hunt Country Stable Tour - in Loudoun and Fauquier County.  Tickets can be purchased at the Pink Box Visitors Center or at Trinity Episcopal Church in Upperville.  Our Middleburg Community Farmers Market is open every Saturday morning from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon from May 4 - October 26 located behind the Middleburg Community Center. 

Our town is full of wonderful history, fantastic dining and lots of special shops! Hopefully you will take time to support our small businesses by shopping and dining in our town. Our many new businesses along with our established ones, offer something for everyone…… and at ALL prices ranges!

Look for more announcements through the spring and summer 
 with the anticipated debut of Salamander Resort & Spa in August.

Arbor Day 2013 - Middleburg was presented The Tree City USA Arbor Day award for the 12th year by Terry Lasher, Regional Forester for Northern Virginia!  Thank you to the National Sporting Library and Museum for hosting Arbor Day 2013. Thank you to students of The Hill School and Middleburg Elementary for entering the Poster Contest "Trees Tell Stories and History of Middleburg".

During a press conference April 4, 2013 at Boxwood Winery, Sheila C. Johnson announced the Launch of the 2013 Middleburg Film Festival - which will be October 25-27 throughout the Town of Middleburg. Congratulations to Rachel Martin of Boxwood Estate Winery for her accomplishments for Middleburg, Virginia to become the state’s newest American Viticultural Area. (See the following press release.)  First Lady Maureen McDonnell, Virginia Secretary of Agriculture and Forestry, Todd Haymore and Diane BeChampes of Virginia Tourism, all joined in the sign unveiling of Virginia’s newest American Viticultural Area on Tuesday, March 26th at Boxwood Winery.

The Middleburg Town Council will hold a public hearing on the following on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. in the Town Office, located at 10 West Marshall Street.  Copies of this file are available for public inspection in the Town Office from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, holidays excepted.

INVITATION FOR BIDS
CUSTODIAL SERVICES

The Town of Middleburg has issued an Invitation for Bids (IFB) for Custodial Services for the Town Hall, Pink Box Visitor's Center, Health Center Building/Police Department and Liberty Street Restrooms.  The contract is for a one-year period, with the option to renew for four additional one year periods. 

Bids are due in the Town Office, 10 W. Marshall Street, P. O. Box 187, Middleburg, VA 20118 no later than 11:00 AM on Monday, June 10, 2013.  

A tour of the facilities will be conducted on Monday, June 3, 2013 beginning at 10:00 AM in the Town Office.

PAINTING OF TOWN'S WATER TOWERS

Beginning the weekend of April 20th and continuing for approximately two weeks, Utility Service Co., Inc. will be power washing and painting the Town's water towers, weather permitting.  Work will begin with the tower on the west end of Town.  While the Town does not expect any problems as a result of this project, if you experience any water pressure and/or discoloration issues, please contact the Town Office (540-687-5152) or Loudoun Water (after hours) at 571-291-7878.


COMMITTEE VACANCIES

The Middleburg Town Council is accepting letters of interest from individuals who wish to be considered for service on the following committees:

Middleburg Arts Council (MAC) - Responsible for coordinating community cultural and arts events sponsored by the Town (excluding Christmas in Middleburg), including staffing the events; formulation of appropriate rules for events; organizing entertainment for events; and advertising, promoting and marketing events.  Members should have an interest in arts and/or cultural activities.  The initial appointment shall be to fill an unexpired term, said term to expire June 14, 2014.  Normally, terms are for a two-year period.  The MAC meets at 6:00 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month; and, in work sessions as needed.

Go Green - Responsible for advising Council on environmental issues and developing recommendations for environmental action plans.  Their goal is to increase community awareness of environmental issues.  The Committee meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m.; and, in work session as needed.
